There are solitary souls all around us. Many are traumatized and have lost hope. This Divine Appointment note is a reminder: Solitary souls: God Chose You.

Last night, as I sat at the Pilgrim’s Desk reviewing the day and listening for the Holy Spirit, the words “God Chose You” came to mind. The words were accompanied by an image of a solitary person standing alone in a desert.

A Solitary Soul

I immediately thought the Holy Spirit was showing me a reflection of where I’ve been in life, but this was for someone else. I asked, Lord, who is this and what does this mean?

Here is what I sensed and now write to you:

This person is the reflection of countless souls who feel alone in this world. These people are traumatized by life. Personal suffering has eroded their faith, and natural and man-made disasters both near and far lead them to believe that hope is lost.

24/7 news reinforces their sense of hopelessness. Abandoned.

Feeling alone in an interconnected world of radio waves, they have turned within, choosing AI as their only friend. Their feelings of isolation intensify.

Tell them, “God chose you.”

Frankly, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to do that. So, I’ll release the reins of control to the Holy Spirit and see what flows from here.

God Chose You

I pick up my Bible and do a quick search.

I enter God’s Word and find the Apostle Paul is writing to the Thessalonians, “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth…” (2 Thessalonians 2:13, NKJV).

So for these solitary souls, God is saying He chose you from the beginning. Thus, the feeling of aloneness is just an illusion created by the enemy to blind you to His truth—His ever-present love.

I also read Jesus’ own words when He said, “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:19, NKJV).

Could it be that God chose these solitary souls out of the world, yet they do not recognize it?

Could it be that they need to read His words and hear His voice, and they would realize that they are never alone because God chose them?

Renewed Responsibility to Solitary Souls

I’m left with a renewed sense of responsibility for reaching out to solitary souls.

Perhaps this is the challenge for all of us chosen by God. To reach out in faith and love to those who could use a friend other than Artificial Intelligence.

To offer a hand to those who suffer in silence. To share God’s message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

My Prayer

Lord, I pray this Divine Appointment note finds solitary souls who need to hear this message—God Chose You!

Together we can reach out across the radio waves, the internet, the restaurant table next to us, and help another soul feel less solitary.
