About
This isn't a mission statement. It's just the truth about why this site exists.
About Simply Walking With Jesus
Simply Walking With Jesus isn’t about me; it’s about the relationship I’ve developed with Jesus since 2005, when I became a believer.
It’s about the walk with Him and the twists, the turns, the uphill climbs, and the downhill runs.
It’s about the adventure that comes with being an Ambassador of Christ.
It’s about realizing that I’m a sinner, but a sinner who sins less today than last year.
It’s about getting up every morning, picking up my cross, donning the armor of God, focusing on the fruit of the Spirit, and praying that my hopes and dreams align with God’s Will. After all, His will will always be done.
It’s about listening for His voice in all I write from the “Pilgrim’s Desk.”
It’s about showing up for His Divine Appointments at coffee shops, walking paths, and grocery store encounters.
It’s about being aware that “life events” are Divine Interventions. God is in control even when I’m out of control.
It’s about forgetting what I think I know, and allowing the Holy Spirit to inform me of the Truth.
It’s about writing “Notes Along the Way” that capture snapshots of my walk, but always with the prayer that it may help a reader somewhere, sometime.
It’s about Jesus and the blood of the cross.
About Trace Pirtle
After serving as a missile launch officer with ICBMs in the United States Air Force, I spent a 40-year professional career in the “helping profession.”
I began counseling in schools and mental health settings, worked as a school psychologist and director of counseling, became a tenured counselor education professor, and earned a post-doctoral Diplomate in Logotherapy credential. I retired from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.
I now live, write, and serve the Lord with my wife in the Texas Hill Country. Six days a week you’ll find me either writing at “The Pilgrim’s Desk”, engaged in fellowship at a local coffee shop, or sharing the Gospel on a local bike path.
It’s always about practicing the presence of God, as Brother Lawrence said. It’s all about Jesus.
If you’d like to read my “full story”, I'll link to it on my Fruit of the Spirit site. Fair warning: it's not a tidy story. I don't come off looking too good in parts of it, but it's true.
