God's Love for Sinners

A quiet journal reflection on God’s love for sinners, seeing others through His grace, and praying for all to know the light of Jesus Christ.

It’s raining today. Although a little rain never stops me, it does seem to keep most people away from the park.

So here I sit at the “Pilgrim’s Desk” in my Texas Hill Country upper room, watching the headlights crest the hill across the way, waiting for the Holy Spirit to guide today’s journal entry.

My thoughts drift to my Scripture memory notes. I stop at Romans 5:8 and remember God’s love for sinners.

His Word tells us that He demonstrated His love for us while we were still sinners, by offering Jesus as the perfect sacrifice—His blood covering our sins.

I look back at the sporadic headlights in the distance and begin to wonder.

Is God shining His light on someone who does not yet know Him? Or am I seeing the reflected light of Christ in someone who has already been saved by His grace?

Because there are only two kinds of people traveling that road: those who are saved by grace through faith, and those who are not yet.

So with each passing car, I pray.

I pray that each one is filled with the light and love of Jesus Christ. And if not yet, that they soon will be.

And just as I write this, a ray of sunshine breaks through the clouds, and the rain begins to lift.

Glory to God.
